Cristina Amaya
As President and Co-founder of Latinx in Gaming, Director of the DreamHack American Festival, and Vice President of IGDA, Cristina Amaya works to increase Latin representation in the gaming world. She has helped secure scholarships and financial support for 180 people, benefiting 80 with educational scholarships and expanding the organization to over 10,000 members. Cristina has also created events like “Unidos” and “Conexión” to connect and support Latino creators. Additionally, she founded a support group for Latinos affected by layoffs in the industry, helping them find new jobs. She also focuses on increasing female participation at DreamHack. At IGDA, she has made membership more affordable globally. Cristina Amaya points out that within large gaming companies, only 2% to 5% identify as Latinx or Latine. She has worked diligently to increase that proportion.
